Continuing Education for Journeyman Electricians

The New Jersey Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors require the Continuing Education Requirements listed below for all licensed Journeyman electricians.


Total Units of time: Contact Hours is 10 hours. 

  • a)  Nine of these hours must be on the recent edition of the National Electrical Code.
  • b)  1 hour must include all applicable state statute and rules.


The renewal cycle for a licensed Journeyman electrician is triennial, every 3 years, based on your Licensure Date.


The licensed Journeyman electrician must demonstrate that he or she has completed the required continuing education hours to the New Jersey Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors.


Hanover Testing Labs offers Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors approved courses to satisfy all of the licensed Journeyman electrician continuing education requirements.
